Scan statistics

Understanding your scan statistics

Every code has its own statistics, and your Your codes page adds them all up.

A code's statistics

What counts as a scan

A scan is counted each time someone opens a code's short link, whether by scanning the code or clicking the link.

These aren't counted:

  • Bots and link previews, such as the preview WhatsApp or Slack makes when someone pastes your link. They're shown separately, as "bot and link-preview visits not counted".
  • Scans of a paused code, or while your plan isn't active.
  • More than 20 scans a day from the same device on the same code. People are still sent on to your page; we just stop counting.

Unique visitors

A unique visitor is one device on one day. If the same phone scans a code three times in a day, that's 3 scans and 1 unique visitor. If it scans again the next day, it counts as a new unique visitor.

We work this out without storing anything that identifies the person. See privacy.

The figures

  • Scans and Unique visitors for the period you choose: 7 days, 30 days, 90 days or 12 months.
  • All time and Last scan.
  • A daily chart of unique visitors and repeat scans.
  • Device (phone, tablet or computer) and System (iOS, Android, Windows and so on).
  • Latest scans: the last 25, with the time and a New visitor, Repeat or Bot label.

Times are UK time (Europe/London).

Tip

No scans yet? Open the short link on your phone: that counts as a scan, so it's a quick way to check a code works.

Scan counts are a guide, not an exact headcount. Some phones and networks open links in ways that can't be told apart.
