# Pause, duplicate or delete a code

Each code's **⋯** menu in **Your codes** has these options.

## Pause and resume

**Pause** stops a code without losing anything. While it's paused, people who scan it see a page saying the code is paused, and those scans aren't counted. Select **Resume** to switch it back on.

You can also use the **Active** switch when you're editing a code.

## Duplicate

**Duplicate** makes a copy with "(copy)" after the name. The copy has the same event, notes, destination, campaign tags, design and scheduled changes, and a new short link. It's switched on straight away.

## Delete

**Delete** removes the code and all its recorded scans. It can't be undone.

 Warning

Printed copies of a deleted code stop working. If you might need it again, pause it instead.

Deleting a code frees up a place on your plan for a new one.
